This week’s “Mood Playlist” draws inspiration from a very special niche. The highly awaited 4th season of Netflix’s blockbuster hit “Stranger Things” is finally here, and with that has emerged a whole new concept: the Vecna playlist. For those who might not know (spoiler alert!), Vecna, played by Jamie Campbell Bower, is the primary antagonist of season 4. When Vecna attacks one of our main protagonists, Max (played by Sadie Sink), the only way she can fight back is when her friends play her favourite song. In this respect, fans all over the world are sharing the songs that would save them from Vecna’s curse.
Here are 12 K-Pop songs that would save any 3rd generation K-Pop stan from Vecna!
EXO – ‘Eve’
One of EXO’s finest songs of all time, the allure of ‘Eve’ continues to have a chokehold on us. Once it plays, the only goal for any EXO-L will be getting the choreography right.
BTS – ‘Spring Day’
The queen of all BTS songs, ‘Spring Day’ is more powerful than Vecna could ever be. No matter the circumstances, best believe that ARMY will rise for ‘Spring Day’.
Red Velvet – ‘Power Up’
When Red Velvet tells us to power up, we listen and no villain can stand in our way. All the memories this song will evoke is enough to defeat a hundred Vecnas.
BLACKPINK – ‘Whistle’
When it comes to BLACKPINK, you just have to blow up when you show up! Vecna wouldn’t stand a chance!
SF9 – ‘Play Hard’
The moment we hear SF9’s ‘Play Hard’, we cannot help but sing along. The effect this song has on FANTASY and the way it can get us grooving is next to none.
TWICE – ‘What Is Love?’
No K-Pop fan, regardless of their taste in music, can resist the charm of ‘What Is Love?’ by TWICE. This song turns the world into a fairy-tale, even if it is for a couple of minutes. Now, that’s power.
NCT 127 – ‘Cherry Bomb’
When ‘Cherry Bomb’ hits, there’s no looking back. We’re going hard. Vecna better watch its back!
iKON – ‘Love Scenario’
One of the representative K-Pop songs from the 3rd generation, iKON’s ‘Love Scenario’ reminds us of the good old times. Besides, it remains unbeatable when it comes to catchiness. Vecna, who?
EXID – ‘Up & Down’
If you’re not instantly driven to doing the point choreography as soon as this song plays, your self-control is too good to be true. Who has time for curses when you could be living your best life dancing to ‘Up & Down’?
ASTRO – ‘Blue Flame’
Nothing gets our hearts beating faster than ASTRO’s ‘Blue Flame’. With its Latin trap uniqueness, this song is as memorable as it gets, almost like it’s an OST to your life. This is classic ASTRO, and no AROHA would skip this song when it comes to their Vecna playlist.
GOT7 – ‘Hard Carry’
With how far GOT7 has come, creating a global cultural impact unlike any other, ‘Hard Carry’ holds special meaning for all Ahgase. One “Hard Carry Hey” could pull us out of any trance, let alone Vecna’s.
MONSTA X – ‘Stuck’
‘Stuck’ by MONSTA X has been living rent-free in my mind ever since it was released. The emotional import of this song, for obvious reasons, is just too strong, and it is undoubtedly irreplaceable on any MONBEBE’s Vecna playlist.
