Korean artists release new music, concepts, and photoshoots all the time. Every artist has their own style that they use to mold their various content. With every comeback, artists like to diversify their content and try new things. Doing something new and different than what others have done is a good way to gather attention to their new release.
There are many aspects that go into a musical release. The makeup, clothing, dance, stage, accessories, and anything that fans can see has a plan behind it. Especially if the artist is trying out something new that no one else has ever done before. So here’s a list of unique stylings that can be found in various female artists’ music.
1. EVERGLOW – ‘First’ & ‘Pirate’
EVERGLOW have always leaned towards more powerful girl-crush type styling and music. These two title tracks are no different, and they both feature distinctive and bold styles that set them apart from their previous releases.
In ‘First’, they started to explore a space theme for the first time. The set shows them in outer space and other non-Earth-like areas.
Their styling and the concept of their outfits really reflect these settings. They all seem to be dressed as space adventurers or aliens exploring new planets in multi-layered and colorful clothing.
Next, in ‘Pirate’ the theme of going to other planets continued. The emphasis in this comeback was more on accessories rather than matching clothing like in ‘First’.
The stylists gave Mia a very distinctive and futuristic-looking eye patch to match their pirate theme. However, instead of being a regular pirate, she appears as a galactic pirate who is exploring space to find unknown treasures.
Onda also has a very unique and futuristic outfit that exudes a powerful space adventurer vibe.
Finally, the stylists even added additional details to the dancers’ wardrobes. They had very distinctive and chic-looking masks on to create a mysterious vibe in the MV.
The theme of outer space is not unique in itself, but the way that EVERGLOW utilized the theme in the stylings of both of these releases was definitely one of a kind!
Check out both of the videos below and see what you think of their outfits!
2. AleXa – ‘Bomb’ & ‘Do or Die’
Speaking of space themes, AleXa is well known for using and embodying a futuristic vibe in many of her releases. Two such releases were some of her earliest ones, ‘Bomb’ and ‘Do or Die’.
In ‘Bomb’, the video starts in a sort of dystopian version of Earth where technology seems to have advanced greatly but also caused it to fall into ruin.
AleXa also seems to have been affected by this new robotic world because she appears to be some sort of humanoid.
Her clothing and accessories shown throughout the video only further display the futuristic and technological style of the video.
Some especially interesting accessories shown in the video are her hair accessories that seem to be some sort of rings.
Moving on to ‘Do or Die’, AleXa keeps the futuristic vibe. The world still seems to be in chaos and AleXa is fighting for her life, it’s do or die!
She even continues the style from ‘Bomb’ with her hair accessories.
However, she also evolves the style to look more glamorous and robotic by using special makeup and custom outfits.
It’s safe to say AleXa is one of the queens of the futuristic style as she has repeatedly shown it off in multiple videos and comebacks.
Recently, AleXa won an American survival show called “American Song Contest”! Check out the song she made that won her first place below!
3. NMIXX – ‘O.O’
NMIXX is the newest group on this list having only had their debut releases so far. However, despite their short discography, they have made a big splash in the K-Pop community. One of the biggest reasons was the unique mixing and rhythm of their song ‘O.O’. Not only did they take a one-of-a-kind approach to the song they also did so with the stylings in their MV.
Many of the outfits they displayed featured bright colors and bold letters. These styling choices emphasize NMIXX’s bright atmosphere and youthful vibes.
Similar to EVERGLOW, they experimented with layered clothing but rather than wearing pants they opted to use a lot of skirts and dresses.
Some of their outfits were a bit more simple but included unique details. For example, their black suit-like outfits incorporated large gems and keychains.
KyuJin especially had an interesting accessory comprised of various gems stuck to a sort of garter belt. It is definitely something that has not been seen before in the K-Pop world!
Overall, NMIXX have had a very diverse and interesting style and it will be exciting to see how it continues to evolve in the near future!
See if you can spot all of these styling details in the video below!
4. Billlie – ‘GingaMingaYo’
Billlie have had good success with most of their releases so far, but their newest release ‘GingaMingaYo’ has been the most popular by far. One of the biggest reasons was Tsuki‘s fancam that went viral. One of the most noticeable style aspects of her fancam was her bouncy curly hairstyle.
The style became so popular they even released a video tutorial on how to do it!
Check it out if you want to rock the Tsuki look!
5. BIBI – ‘Bad Sad and Mad’
BIBI is the only non-idol on this list as she is a K-R&B artist under legendary Korean rapper Tiger JK’s label Feel Ghood Music. Since her debut, she has had a very unique style in music and concepts and one of the tracks in her newest album ‘BAD SAD AND MAD’ is no exception.
The video is only around a minute and a half long, but it leaves a lasting impression on everyone who watches it thanks to the unique stylings featured in it. First, she has a few simple but intriguing makeup looks.
Then she shows off some very intricate headpieces and accessories.
Especially this headpiece that includes large gems and which covers half of BIBI’s face for most of the video.
The theme of the song is becoming like a dog for the one you love. So this headpiece that wraps around her mouth seems to serve almost like a muzzle that a dog would wear. Regardless of its intended purpose, it is a very eye-catching and unique addition to this captivating video!
BIBI only debuted a few years ago but has been gaining popularity lately and even performed at Coachella alongside labelmate and another legendary Korean rapper Yoon MiRae!

The last idol on this list is Girls’ Generation‘s HyoYeon! In her newest solo release ‘Deep’ she shows off an interesting arachnid concept that features very unique pieces of clothing. To start off, HyoYeon appears in a pink outfit that has a large spiderweb necklace covering the entire front part of her torso.
Then she changes to a black outfit that exudes the vibes of a black widow spider with sharp accessories and unique shoulder-length gloves.
Finally, she sports a very interesting outfit near the end of the video that includes a one-of-a-kind spider-like glove that really emphasizes the concept of the video.
This outfit has definitely never been seen before which makes her video and comeback stand out even more amongst the crowds of comebacks from other artists!
It’s common to see trending styles and concepts in K-Pop music videos and concept photos, and it’s smart to follow trends at the height of their popularity to ensure enough exposure for the content. However, it is also exciting and enjoyable to see artists step out of their comfort zones and try out new things!
