This week we’ll be covering WINNER MiNo‘s Korean lettering tattoos.
MiNo is well-known for being a trendsetter and having a unique sense of expression when it comes to fashion. He is an incredibly talented rapper with overwhelming stage charisma, too. He is also famous as one of the K-Pop idols with a lot of tattoos. Many fans may be curious about his tattoos.
You can often get a glimpse of MiNo’s tattoos from his Instagram posts.
MiNo is known for having his own philosophy when it comes to getting tattoos. As it is common for people to get English words and lettering as tattoos, he has explained that he especially likes to get his tattoos in Korean lettering (Hangeul or ‘한글’ in Korean). He shared that he doesn’t like going the common route when doing something.
On his back, he has the words ‘맑은정신 바른자세’ (romanized syllabically as malk-eun-jeong-shin ba-reun-ja-se) spread across either side of his shoulders which means ‘clear mind, right attitude’. He got the tattoo because that phrase is a very important reminder to him.
On the inner part of his arm, he has the phrase ‘참 잘했어요’ (romanized syllabically as cham jal-haess-eo-yo) which is in the form of a school stamp that teachers often give to school children. The stamp is often given to school children as a congratulatory ‘well done’ in Korea.
There are 5 stars in the tattoo design which represents WINNER’s 5th debut anniversary, which is also when he got the tattoo done.
His other Korean tattoo is of the word ‘사랑’ (romanized syllabically as sa-rang) which means love.
He has a couple more Korean tattoos including one near his elbow (meaning ‘I don’t like it’), on his arm (with an infinity sign), on his thigh, and just below his knee (meaning ‘I hope my condition will be good tomorrow’).
MiNo has many more tattoos (with English lettering and illustrations) that we will make sure to cover over the course of this series.
